Born Free 50th Anniversary
Fifty years ago, Joy Adamson introduced the world to her story of life alongside an orphaned lioness called Elsa. Joy Adamson rescued the lioness when she was a cub and raised her at her home in Kenya. But, as Elsa was born free, Joy made the heart rendering decision to return Elsa to the wild.
Since the first publication of 'Born Free', readers have been captivated by the remarkable interaction between Joy and Elsa. Millions of people have also come to know Joy's story through the classic film starring Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers.
