'Yes we can read,' published by Gatehouse Books, was awarded The People's Book Prize Special Award 2011. Their mission is 'Each One Teach One', which plans to enable everyone from 8 to 80 who can read fluently to teach a friend, neighbour, relative or school-mate in six months or less. 'We hope that no child will ever again leave primary or secondary school unable to read. Each one teach one with Yes we can read,' says producer and retired comprehensive school headteacher, Libby Coleman. Amongst other areas, the book is being used in schools by pupils, teaching assistants and volunteers who read fluently to teach children with poor or no reading skills.
